It is hand day! Time for some secrets to loving and caring for your hands. I do not know about you but I use my hands for everything. If I am not using my hands, I feel like I am not doing anything. I like to keep my hands working.
However, I do not always properly care for them as I should. When I am working very quickly on something, I often bang my hands into many different objects without a care in the world and it is not until later that I realize all the scrapes and scratches that accumulated on them while I was working. I also tend to do a lot of manual labor (with moping and vacuuming and such) and lifting with my hands so they are more rough than a females hands normally are.
So I needed some good tips to soften them up and keep them youthful looking. Many of these tips are tips that we used with the feet and the body care secrets from the past few blogs but they work just the same on your hands.
Nighttime Treatment Tip #1 - To soften your hands up, the best thing to do is use one of those scrubs that you made for your body with sugar or sea salt and massage into all the sections of your hands. Once you rinse it off, apply vaseline or body butter generously, into all areas of your hands again and then find some gloves (that you will only use for this treatment) and wear them on your hands overnight while you are sleeping. This always makes my hands feel ten times softer the next day.
Home Mani Tip #2 - If you are not able to go to the salon often to get your nails done, it is still good to care for them at home. It really only takes a few minutes. The most important things when doing your nails, is always give them a fresh trim with fingernail clippers. You do not have to clip off the whole nail but enough to give them some shape. I like to keep my nails square at the top because they grow long and it looks nice with my slender fingers. Keep the shape consistent with all of your fingernails. Clean out underneath the nails (I do this everyday because I use my hands a lot). Apply some cuticle oil along the entire cuticle of each nail and let it sit there for a moment. Then clip your cuticles, but be gentle in doing this because it is very easy to get the soft skin underneath and start them bleeding. Then apply some clear polish or a nice color that compliments your skin tone. I often do not even wear polish on my nails because it never stays.
Clean Nails Tip #3 - For some very clean finger nails, take an equal amount of baking soda and peroxide and allow your fingernails to soak in the mixture for about 5 minutes. They come out looking fresh and clean. You can do this while you are giving your hands the spa treatment.
You have the whole weekend ahead of you. Try out some of these tips to give your hands, fingers and nails a little extra love and beauty.
Please note: All of the things that I share in my blogs are things that I have used or done before. The beauty secrets that I will be sharing and shared today are things that I use on a consistent basis. I know that they work and I am not just telling you stories. However, everything does not always work for everyone. Try what you like and if it does not work than move onto the next thing.

HAIR CARE #1
March 4, 2014 Tuesday
Hair
Gleam &
Glow
Hair, for women, has always been seen as a sign of their beauty. The care that you take in your body and with your looks always shows through in your hair. When you eat right, shower often and drink plenty of water, your hair shows off your health with shine, strength and beauty.
I did not realize until recently that I am an expert when it comes to caring for your hair. My hair is highly envied by practically every woman that I meet. I am not just referring to the color, but also the length and the health of my hair. This is not said in a boastful way but I am telling you this so that you know you can trust what I am going to share.
So today and tomorrow’s blogs will be full of helpful hair care tips that I live by:
Natural is Better
The way your hair was naturally is the way you should leave it. It helps make you who you are. It was created special to fit your skin tone and face shape. When you leave your hair its natural color, you are saying that you have accepted yourself for what you look like and you love yourself that way. When you constantly change your color (unless you are a hair stylist), it is showing the world that you do not know who you are and you are searching for yourself. I know many of us have an urge to do what is in style, what all the celebrities are doing. But why don’t you just be yourself? Care for your hair the way it is naturally and it will still look good when you get older.
Avoid Chemicals & Heat
Dye and heat treatments are very damaging to your hair. I am sure you already know this. The less damage you do to your hair the healthier it will be. My hair has never been dyed and I never plan on dying it. It is pin straight and that is how I normally keep it. Maybe once a month I will curl it. But I avoid using the blow drier, hot iron and hot curlers on it because it breaks it very easily.
A Little Snip
Another way to make your hair keep its healthy glow is to get the ends snipped off regularly. I get my ends snipped about once every 6 months and I only cut about a half an inch off from them. When you snip off the burnt or fried ends of your hair, it looks much healthier. If you are constantly frying your hair, you are going to have to get it cut more often. I hope these tips were helpful today.
Come back tomorrow and learn some more ways to care for your hair.

HAIR CARE #2
March 5, 2014 Wednesday
Hair
Gleam &
Glow
I am so glad you came back today to find more tips on how to care for your hair :)
Regular Washing
It is important to wash your hair regularly with shampoo and conditioner. I do not support a specific brand because many of them have different ingredients that are good for your hair in different ways. Every time I buy a new product, I switch it up. I know that there are things in shampoo and conditioner that are not exactly the best for your hair. I have tried the “no poo” method and it did not work for me. I have yet to find something natural that works good in my hair.
I have heard from many different people that it is good to wash your hair only once or twice a week. I, however, do not agree with that. I think it is different for the different hair types. My hair is very fair and if I go more than a day without washing it, it looks like it has not been washed in a week. So, that one you will have to gauge for yourself and see what works best for your hair.
Hair Masks
There are a lot of household ingredients and foods that you eat on a normal basis that are good for your hair (and I am not talking about you eating them). Every few weeks, I make a new mask for my hair. I usually make a mixture of 3 or 4 of the things from the list below and let it sit in my hair (I wrap my hair up in a towel so I do not get the goo all over my clothes) for about 25 minutes before I hop in the shower and wash my hair like regular.
List of Ingredients for Hair Masks:
Honey
Lemon
Olive Oil
Mashed Avocado
Banana
Coconut Oil
Raw Eggs (Use only when washing hair in cold water)
Milk
These are the main ingredients that I use on my hair and each thing does something different for your hair. Milk smoothes it, coconut oil helps it grow and lemon gives it a nice shine.
I know it may sound funny putting food in your hair (I thought it did too my first time when I tried it in high school) but you will be amazed at how nice your hair looks and feels afterwards. Spa treatments for your hair, who knew?!

We cannot cover the topic of hair and forget to mention up dos. :)
For the longest time, I would not do anything with my hair. I did not like to put it ponytails because that can cause breakage and I really did not know how else to style it.
Can I get a shout out from all my Pinterest peeps!?!! Thanks to Pinterest, I have now been able to see how many of the different hair styles are done and have tried them on myself. It actually works. LOL
I do not have to use hair spray or rubber bands or much of anything harmful for the different styles. And that is always a plus.
If you are looking for ways to bring some pizzazz to your hair or are just tired of the same old thing, check out pinterest. You will find hundreds of ideas and the ways to do them.

FACIAL LOVE
March 8, 2014 Saturday
Love
Your
Face
It is time we talk about our faces. Our faces are important. They are normally the first thing people see of us. We only get one face, so we might as well treat it well. They are more sensitive than most other areas on our body.
Today we will cover just a few basics.
First, it is important to wash your face twice a day. Once when you awaken and then before you go to bed. When cleansing your face, be very gentle, barely rubbing your face. Too much pressure in any area causes wrinkles. It is best to use your ring and pinky finger when cleaning your face because they will not use as much pressure as your other fingers.
Second, you should use moisturizer after cleansing, twice a day. You should use moisturizer even if your face is oily. Oily skin normally means it needs more moisture than you are giving it.
I would use a peel, mask or scrub on your face about once a week. Probably not too much more often than that. There are so many scrubs and masks out there. I have included a few different ones that you can do at home. I have found that the ones I make at home are more effective and cost efficient than most other facial treatments out there.
Give your self a little facial this weekend! :)

Picture of BEAUTY of the Day
I have two special secrets that relate to the skin on your face today that I will share before we begin to break down the different parts of your face and how to care for them.
Baking Soda
I know we have talked about baking soda before but believe it or not, you can use baking soda on your face. Mix one part baking soda and one part water, put the paste on your face. Scrub it around a little bit and then rinse it off. This cleans my face and my pores better than any facial cleaner I have ever used. I do not use it everyday but once a week I will clean my face and my pores out really well with the baking soda mix.
Olive Oil
This tip is really useful in the harsher, cold climates that dry your skin on your face out and cause it to peel. After you wash your face off for the night, instead of applying your moisturizer, put a little bit of olive oil all over your face and leave it on over night. You only need a little bit because a little oil goes a long way.
I hope you find these tips useful. Come back tomorrow to see what part of the face we will discuss first.

How
To
Care

PUCKER UP
March 10, 2014 Monday
Smooches
We are on the topic of our face and I want to go into detail on a few areas. Let us start with our mouth area. Today we will cover the topic of our lips.
Lips are not too difficult to care for. They heal pretty quickly when they get a sore. When they are chapped, the best thing to do is apply Vaseline or olive oil. That will give them the moisture they need.
I would avoid using most chap sticks because they normally have an acid in them that causes your lips to continue to get chapped so that you continue to buy their chapstick.
If you are in need of some intense lip exfoliating, make a scrub with some sugar and olive oil. Massage it on your lips for a few minutes and then rinse it off. Always follow up with some vaseline.
Lipsticks are fun to experiment with. If you are wanting to enhance your natural beauty, I would avoid crazy colors like black, silver, anything that clashes with your skin tone. That will draw away from your beauty instead of enhance it.
There is no real need for lip liner unless you are going to be on stage or taking pictures. Too many women do not know how to wear or apply lip liner nicely and it makes them look more scary than beautiful.
Tomorrow we will have some real fun as we dive into our mouths and talk about our teeth.

PEARLY WHITES
March 11, 2014 Tuesday
Say
Cheese
Your smile is one thing that people will remember the most about you. It is the one thing that they will pay the most attention to when you are speaking with them. So it is important to care for our teeth.
You definitely need to brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day. We all know that. What about whitening your teeth?
If you eat or drink anything other than water, the truth is your teeth are getting yellower. There are many ways to brighten your teeth that costs a lot of money. But there are also some great ways to whiten your teeth with some simple things that you have at home.
Baking soda, peroxide and lemon all help whiten your teeth.
If you mix baking soda with your tooth paste, it will aid in brightening your smile.
You can swish peroxide around in your mouth by itself or add it to your mouthwash.
A slice of lemon with baking soda on it can also whiten your teeth. But you do not want to use lemon very often because it can wear the enamel off your teeth.
If you get a mouth guard and mix peroxide and baking soda, let it sit on your teeth for 5 minutes or so. That is one of the best way to whiten your teeth.
Follow these simple things and you will have a whiter, brighter smile in no time.

Applying make up is more of an art form than anything else. Everyday your canvas is washed clean to start anew. There are many different brushes that you can use that create different effects, there are tons of colors, powders and cremes to choose from.
When I was just starting to use make up, I had no idea what I was doing and I had no one to teach me. I had the tendency to avoid it because it did not always turn out looking so great. As I got into college, I was introduced to Kandee’s makeup tutorials on youtube and I started learning the different techniques. Now I learn a lot just from pinterest. I am constantly learning new makeup tricks as the art of makeup continues to evolve.
I am a firm believer that women do not need to wear a lot of makeup all the time. Constantly covering your face in chemicals and powders cannot be good for it. And we wonder why we age faster than men?!
But I do love getting dolled up and going out just as much as the next girl. If you are in need of some tips on how to apply foundation, highlights and bronzer perfectly, I have included some examples for you today. If done right, you can get that perfect airbrushed look that models and movie stars have (minus the photoshop).
Come back tomorrow and I will have even more makeup tricks for you. Remember, makeup is art so have fun with it :)

Eye Liner
March 15, 2014 Saturday
Straight
&
True
Eye liner is a tricky part of the make up process. With some looks, it is good to have thicker liner but with some you want it to be barely there.
The hard part with eye liner is making it straight. That takes a bit of practice. Cutips come in handy until you are able to make it perfect.
Here are a few tips at making the eye liner look a little better:
1. Instead of trying to draw a straight line across your eye, move the brush down towards the eye lashes. This helps with making it look straighter and it fills in all the areas below.
2. After you apply your eye liner, use the smudge brush over the top of it. It slightly smudges the liner so that it no longer matters if the line is straight or not - you will not be able to tell.
3. If you are not looking for a heavy liner look, put the eye liner on first , before the eyeshadow and then apply the shadow on top of it.
For a heavy eye liner look, apply the liner last.
Here are some fun eye liner ideas I see online that you can practice and play with.

Eye Shadow

Color
Me
True
Eye shadows can be another fun tool to play with when you are applying your makeup. But there is a trick to eye shadows.
Some colors make blue eyes pop, some make brown eyes stand out more and so on and so forth. So the trick is to find the right color combo that brings out the color of your eyes.
My eyes change between green and blue, so I can play off from both colors. For more blue eyes, I wear browns, golds, blues and creme colors on my eyes. For more green eyes, I wear purples and pinks.
Below is a color chart that gives color recommendations based off from your skin color instead of your eye color. Under that is a step by step on how to make your eyes pop with the different shadows and liners.

DRESS UP

Dress

Impress
We have spent a good deal of time on eating right, working out and then caring for your hair and skin. Now we have one more component that aids us in our outward beauty - the last topic is discussing what we wear and how we accessorize.
I am a strange individual. I love fashion, as a matter of fact, I am a fashion designer. But I also like to be comfortable and sometimes just wear sweats and a T. So I will share my fashion secrets with you and you can e-mail me anytime, I will give you advice on fashion and your wardrobe.
One thing I have learned is that when we as women dress to a T with a great outfit, make up and hair done up, all accessorized, we feel the most beautiful. And as I have said before, this section of the blog is all about enhancing your beauty that is already there. When you feel beautiful, in all areas of your life, there is nothing that can stop you. You are a strong, empowered and a confidant woman.
The more you feel beautiful, the more you accept yourself and the better able you are to see yourself as truly beautiful.
So lets begin this fashion journey ....

BODY TYPES
March 19, 2014 Wednesday
Apples,
Pears
What??
Whether you have realized it or not, we all have different body types. Some of us are really tall, some very short, and than there are so many different heights in between. Some of us have curves and some of us are sticks.
Because we are all shaped differently, some clothing looks better on one body type than it does on another. This took me a while to realize. I thought everything looked good on me but after I started paying more attention, I could see that some styles did look better with my body type than others.
The first step is to realize what body type you are. There are 4 main body types: hourglass, apple, pear and straight. I will take a day for each body type to describe the type and what clothing accentuates that body type the best.
This will give you a chance to learn about them all and examine your own body so that you can choose which body type you are and what clothing looks best on you.
Caution: There are some clothing that does not look good on anyone. We will save that section for last.

HOURGLASS
March 20, 2014 Thursday
Curves
We will start with the “hourglass” body type. This lady is curvy in all the right places. She has curves up top and down below. She slims out at the waist. Hence, why she is called “hourglass.” She is about the same in inches along the top and the bottom, but slims down more than 6 inches in the waist.
This body type many women wish they had. Everyone is wanting a bigger bust and butt these days. But the trick with any body type is to dress correctly.
As an hourglass, you already have the curves. So you want to dress to accentuate them not hide them. Baggy is not flattering. Anything that draws in at the waist is perfect.
Fitted clothing looks great on an hourglass body. V necks and pencil skirts are very flattering. Plain colors are best for the bust area and patterns and colorful bottoms are better for the lower half of you.
The best type of heels are rounded or peep toes for the hourglass body type.
To steer away from drawing attention to your chest, wear chunky bangle bracelets and less necklaces.
The most important thing to remember is to wear things that you are comfortable in. If you feel it is too tight or the neckline too low, do not buy because chances are you will not wear it.

PEARS
March 21, 2014 Friday
Bottoms
Up
Not to be deceiving but we are discussing the “pear” body type not the fruit. The reason some of us are called pears is because we have a bottom that is bigger in circumference than the rest of our body. We have a smaller chest and waist with a big butt/hip/thigh area.
There is nothing wrong with having a bigger bottom but normally we like to have a nice sized top to balance our look out. If we do not have that bigger top to match, than the solution would be to make it appear as if you do.
How do you do that? Pears should wear clothing that does not draw attention to the size of your butt. If you want to wear skinny jeans or tighter clothing on the bottom, wear a nice big top to go over it. It will make you appear to be more proportionate.
Wearing push up bras can help. Big, bangled necklaces will draw attention away from your bottom and thighs. Straight legged pants are a good choice because it can cover up that bottom part and no one will know how big or small it is.
Once again, wear a belt or something that accentuates the waist so that it will appear that you have an hourglass shape. If you are in to patterns, look for patterns that go down your body and not across it.
Come back tomorrow to find out what the other fruits should wear :)
The most important thing to remember is to wear things that you are comfortable in. If you feel it is too tight or the neckline too low, do not buy because chances are you will not wear it.
Here is an option for all you pears out there:

APPLES
March 22, 2014 Saturday
Top
Heavy
If you have ever looked closely at an apple, you will realize that it is bigger on the top and smaller on the bottom. It is the same way with “apple” body shaped women. Apples have a bigger bust and the rest of their body is visibly smaller.
So to be more proportionate, apples need to dress to make their lower half look a little bigger. So you want to emphasize your legs and butt.
You also want to draw attention to your bust and neck but steer clear of drawing attention to your waist. This will make your bust look even bigger.
Tunics, drapey, flowy tops are best. Also dresses or tops that wrap around the chest look good on apples.
Flared pants are a better option than skinny jeans. V necks look nice on bigger chested women as do fitted jackets.
The most important thing to remember is to wear things that you are comfortable in. If you feel it is too tight or the neckline too low, do not buy because chances are you will not wear it.

STRAIGHT/RECTANGLE
March 23, 2014 Sunday
Get
Your Curves
On
This is the last, main body type. This is also sometimes known as having a boyish figure. What this means, is you have no curves, no hips, no boobs. You are straight all the way down.
When you have this body type, it is easy to get into wearing basketball shorts and T-shirts. You figure there is nothing you can do to look more lady like. But there is hope.
Even if you missed out on the curves, you can still dress as if you have them. Here is how: Instead of going for the baggy, boyish clothing - go for everything feminine. The feminine the better. Ruffles, frills, everything that has shape or texture that stands out.
You definitely want to draw attention to your waist. Wear belts at the waist with dresses. Chiffon dresses help to soften your shape.
Stay away from baggy and skinny jeans. Wear pants that flare. Skirts with pleats or gathering look very nice on straight body shapes.
The most important thing to remember is to wear things that you are comfortable in. If you feel it is too tight or the neckline too low, do not buy because chances are you will not wear it.
Here is an option for all you straight body types out there:

DO NOT WEAR

Today’s little blog is for all the female body types out there. These are things that you do not want to wear, at least in public. At home, on your own time, no one cares what you are wearing. When you are out in public, you are a symbol of beauty, femininity, confidence, care and love. So we must look the part.
First things first, never wear something that is too small for you. Common sense. If it does not fit, it is not going to look right and you are not going to feel comfortable in it.
Avoid wearing clothing that are sizes too big for you. Some clothing are meant to hang loosely on you but others are not. There is no reason to hide yourself behind clothing. You are a beautiful, unique woman. Embrace yourself.
If you are going to wear clothing that is see through (chiffon, lace, organza, etc ...) cover up underneath. It is not beautiful or lady like to show all your goodies. You need to have an under shirt/slip on over your bra and panties. We are going after enhancing our beauty not selling our bodies. You are worth much more than that. Start dressing like it.
Short shorts - some are okay. The ones that show part of your butt, above or beneath, are not. No one wants to see that. Not beautiful, not cute, not even sexy. You look like you out grew your clothing.
Above all, just remember that your clothing is a representation of yourself. It is the first thing people see of you, not your personality or your smile.
Unfortunately, people make judgments of others quickly. Make sure they are making the correct judgment of you. I am not saying you have to be Mrs. Fashionista 101. But you should do your best to dress like a beautiful lady, not a prostitute and not a man

Without saying a word or making a face, someone is already passing judgment on you based on what you are wearing and how you look.
Some are shallow, if all they are looking for is name brand. Some look for the beauty in everyone. Let's give them something to stare at :)

BEAUTY OF SPRING
Here
Comes
The Sun
Spring is officially here. In many places, it still does not feel like it. I live in a state where we normally experience spring before the rest of the States. This year has been really different. It still has not warmed up much. When it does get hotter outside, it stays for only a short time. A day later the cold weather is back.
Spring is always a really happy time for me. During the winter, its like I forget how much I love the sun. The sun literally brightens my day and brightens my mood. When spring time arrives, the sun comes with it.
Spring is like a promise that the hard times and the cold times of life do come to an end. Life starts over with the budding of new plants and flowers. Everything is brighter and happier.
With spring, I like to start things a new in my life. With the season of cold ending, I put things of the past behind me and move on. I observe what I have been doing and keep the things that have been working for me and changing the things that have not.
No matter what you have been facing in life, look to the sun in spring. See the promise of beauty and brightness that will be coming your way. Know that the things you are experiencing, that are bringing you down, will come to an end. Just as winter ends, so will that season. You will see sun again. :)

Hiking
One of my favorite things to do outside is go hiking through different trails. When I am in the midst of many trees, I look up and always see the most beautiful display. Here is one from my latest hike.

WHAT IS WORTH?
Who
Says
You are not
We have spent a lot of time discussing enhancing our beauty on the outside, but all of that amounts to nothing if we see ourselves as worthless. What is worth and how do I gain some?
The definition of “worth” according to Merriam-Webster dictionary: worth noun : an amount of something that has a specified value, that lasts for a specified length of time, etc. : the amount of money that something is worth : usefulness or importance
Full Definition of WORTH 1 a : monetary value <farmhouse and lands of little worth> b : the equivalent of a specified amount or figure <a dollar's worth of gas> 2 : the value of something measured by its qualities or by the esteem in which it is held <a literary heritage of great worth> 3 a : moral or personal value <trying to teach human worth> b : merit, excellence <a field in which we have proved our worth>
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/worth
For some reason, humans search for worth. It is something that they spend their lives trying to reach, to achieve. We desire to find worth within ourselves and we desire for others to deem us worthy. We look to parents, family members, friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, Hollywood and even strangers to tell us, show us that we are worthy.
But why? Why do we long for worth? Why do we look for it so desperately in everyone and in everything that we do? Who says that everyone else has the right to judge whether you are worthy or not? Who gives them the power to make that decision?
When you search for your worth in others, you are giving them the power to either lift you up and send you crashing down. More times than not, you will go sailing down. Not because you are not worth it but because you are looking for your worth in someone who is only human. Someone who can only let you down. Someone who is hurting, searching and longing just like you are.
It is unwise and it is damaging to look for your worth in others and in things, because we will never find it. You will only find disappointment. So why do we do it? The only answer I can give you is, it is the way we were made.
But what if we made a choice to stop looking for worth in others? What if we accepted ourselves for who we are and seen ourselves as worthy? What if we were able to find our worth in something greater?

Night Sky
My camera cannot capture the beauty of the night sky, all the dazzling stars but you can see just a glimpse with the big bright moon. Every second of the day (and night) can be beautiful, if you let it.
