LOVING YOU

August 1, 2014  Friday

Love you, love me

To be able to truly love, one must love themselves first. It is hard to love when you cannot love yourself.

Those who do not love themselves do not know how to love.

Our world is filled with people who do not love themselves, do not accept themselves. These people long so desperately to be loved.

They look to everyone for love. But when you search for love in everyone else you will continue to walk away rejected, disappointed and more broken than when you first came.

This is what happens in most relationships: Two people that do not love themselves try to like one another. They are so consumed in what they do not like about themselves and their insecurities that they jump to wrong conclusions about the other person based off from their own problems. They are so wrapped up in themselves, what they want, need, feel that they do not give the love that the other person needs. This is the reason many relationships end.

When we have not learned to love ourselves, we become obsessed with ourselves in our relationships and forgot that the relationship is not about us.

Love is about caring, loving the other person. Not about what we can get out of it. In order to that, we need to love ourself first.

EXPLORATION

August 9, 2014  Saturday

Take the time to do it

Hi my beautiful friends! I am back from my great adventure to New York. It was a wonderful week full of so much exploration and adventure.

I met with the manufacturing company as soon as I arrived. Kingdom Dezigns, my fashion line, is a go and their pattern and sample making for the designs will begin shortly.

This was my first time to New York. I went by myself and visited as many sites as I could. I went to a broadway show, did some shopping and a lot of walking.

New York is not for everybody but I absolutely love it. I felt like I was in so many countries all in the one city. There are people there from all over, bringing their culture, foods and personalities to that of the United States.

It can be an overwhelming place because of the transportation system, the mass amount of people and so much to see and explore. But I was only overwhelmed slightly for the first few moments. I was so excited to finally be there that I quickly let go of any fear or anxiety and just had fun!

It was absolutely fabulous. It has been my dream to go to New York for more years than I can remember. I just want to encourage you to go after your dreams, whatever they may be. Any places you have wanted to go, do not wait until you are old or before time runs out. Go, explore and have the time of your life.

Life is too short, do not wait to live it up!!

TODAY

August 10, 2014  Sunday

No matter what, keep it up

Today is another day. Another chance to start over. To begin anew. Today is an opportunity to take a different route towards your dreams.

Failure comes. Detours come. Distractions and side tracks are common. But the important thing is to never give up on yourself or on your dreams. Never let go of the thing that drives you, that pushes you to live, that fills you with passion.

As a young girl, I would dream big and nothing seemed impossible. The bigger I dreamed the more life would take off and I just knew that it would all happen. I am still a big dreamer. But as I am faced with reality, things do sometimes feel impossible. Failures and set backs have thrown me off a few different times.

But in no way does that mean that I am a failure. In no way does that mean my dreams and purpose will not come true. The only way they will not is if I give up completely and turn from them. But I will never do that. To turn from them, would be to turn from myself and that would be the death of me.

So today, take this new chance to start again. To try again. To try a different path. More is in store. Never give up because there is always a new tomorrow just around the clock.

Dream big, beautiful, the impossible does happen.

TRAVELING EATS

August 11, 2014  Monday

Keep in control of yourself

Going on vacation is fun but it is hard to keep up your healthy lifestyle. Eating right and keeping up with your workouts is tough but it is crucial on staying on top of your game.

When traveling, you want to experience the place that you are visiting and that means eating the local food. Enjoying the top spots for food. More likely than not, the top food choices are not good for you or so healthy.

On my trip to New York, I wanted to try some New York pizza, New York hot dog, you know all the good things, to get the full experience. I did. But it is also overwhelming trying to find healthy places to eat in New York. There are so many food options everywhere that you could spend all day trying to find a healthy, affordable choice.

I was able to find a gluten free restaurant and bakery while I was there. So that was one healthy choice. The whole time I was there, I was on my feet as well. I feel like I walked 10 miles or more each day so I did stay very active. With most vacations, unless you are doing a lot of chillaxing, the nice thing is, you are probably staying very active because you want to explore.

Now that I am back, it has been a little difficult eating healthy food again. I have had little temptations to cheat. My body definitely feels the junk I ate last week. I have been drained and super tired. But I am being strong and kicking myself back into being disciplined.

That is really what it all boils down to, being able to be in control of what you consume and disciplining yourself, especially when it is hard.

FAITHFUL

August 14, 2014  Thursday

Remain faithful to yourself

Faithfulness is a very important quality for people to find in mates, friends and to have in family. But more than that, being faithful to your heart and your passion will pay off.

Being faithful to your passion means spending time constantly, working to improve your talent or increase your knowledge. It means staying true to what you love and what you know even when you face opposition or failure.

Being faithful to your passion is not easy. For the majority, what you love to do and want to spend your life working on, will not happen automatically. There will be mountains to face, challenges to conquer, distractions to ignore, you name it.

There will also be lessons to learn, people to meet, places to go and progress towards your dreams will continue as you follow along the path laid out before you.

My advice to you, through it all, continue to stay true to yourself and to your passion. Do not let it escape you. Do not give up on it, no matter how hard it gets or what comes your way.

As you stay faithful, you will reach the place where the faithfulness pays off. Where you see all the hard work and time spent come to fruition. This is one of the most fulfilling feelings in the world. This is why I tell you to hang on. You want to feel this, believe me.

Remain faithful my friend.

Love is all you need. It really is. I am not talking about love from being in a relationship. But love, we all just need pure, true love.

Love that is not based off from conditions. Love that will continue even when you are unloveable. Love that stays true to you no matter the hardship, no matter the circumstance.

This is the kind of love we are all looking for. The love that we all need. Unfortunately, humans cannot fulfill this love. But that is where we often go, looking for that love.

There is a source where the love flows deep and true and fills your every need. It is beyond humans. It is beyond our brains can even comprehend.

This love comes from God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. The one that created you. That molded you into who you are and who you will be.

To know the love of your creator, is to know a love far greater than you could ever imagine.

No need to look any longer, my love. Look to the one that already loves you deeply. He turns no one away.

LOVE is all you

need

WHEN YOU KNOW

August 16, 2014  Saturday

Stick

with what you know

Within each of us, we were given an almost super human ability to know certain things. Most of the time, the things we know relate mainly to us.

This knowing is like a still, small voice on the inside of us. Sometimes it is a warning, telling us to take another route or avoid a certain place. Many people’s lives have been saved by listening to this knowing.

The knowing inside of us is definitely not something to be ignored. It is never explainable. You just know deep inside of you. I get these knowings very often and I will try to share them with people. Most of the time they do not want to listen because I cannot give them a reason why other than I just know that it is not right or it is right. They are always sorry when they do not listen.

But for myself, I have learned to listen and to follow the knowing. It has saved me from a lot of trouble.

Like I said, I think most, if not all of us have been given this knowing. However, if you continue to ignore it, it is harder for you to hear it and in a way you sort of loose that ability.

Some people think of it as intuition, some as your conscience. Some even think it is psychic abilities but I don’t believe in that junk.

What I do know is if you have these knowings, it will be much better for you if heed what they tell you. Life will go much smoother for you if you do.

THE RIGHT HEALTHY

August 18, 2014  Monday

What's your reason?

There are so many diets, weight loss fads and the like out there. It seems like everyone is trying one or more of them, with the goal in mind to loose weight.

There is nothing wrong with losing weight or desiring to but when that becomes your main goal, it is often not a strong enough motivator to stay on top of eating right and exercising regularly.

The goal that I have adopted and that many of us should desire is to bring our bodies into a healthy state. Desiring to take care of your body does wonders. If I had ever desired to lose weight in the past, there is no way I would have given up sugar to do it. But once I realized what it does to my body, I dropped that junk like it was hot.

Its all in the mindset, the way you look at things.

Also, here are a few juicy tidbits to help that I got from reading, “How to Drop the Last 5 lbs” in Harper’s Bazaar August 2014 edition, by Jessica Prince (136).

If you have chosen to go gluten-free, many of the packaged products contain high-glycemic white rice flour, potato flour and tapioca starch as well as sugar. These things tend to cause hunger, cravings and weight gain because they cause swings in your blood sugar.

Buy organic when it comes to fresh fruits and veggies. Those that have been coated with pesticide residue chemicals have been shown to increase your appetite and your waistline. Your body stores the pesticides in your fat.

If you are juicing, make sure you are getting the real stuff or making it yourself. The processed, packaged junk is loaded with sugar and not helping you in the weight struggle at all.

Adopt the right mindset for the right reasons. Stick with the real stuff, avoiding the packaged junk. It works, believe me.

PONYTAILS

August 19, 2014  Tuesday

Pull

it

up

Ponytails are for the younger ladies, right? Well, not anymore. Keep your eye on the red carpet and you will spot many older celebrities sporting a ponytail.

I read an interesting article the other day from Harper’s Bazaar, August 2014 edition called, “The Ponytail Face-Lift” (132).

I am sure you can guess where I am going with this. Women are constantly trying to look younger. They want tighter skin with no wrinkles. At one point or another in your life, you probably wore your hair in a tight, high ponytail. Yes, when you wear your hair in this style, your face definitely gets a lift.

I know every time I wear my hair like that, I look like I just transformed into an Asian as my eyes get slanty and make it hard to see straight.

If you feel like you need to take extreme measures for some form of special event, this is one way to tighten up. Keep in mind, this is not good for your hair and will cause breakage. Also, for me at least, it causes a major headache from having my hair pulled so tightly. Do not plan to have it up for many hours because you will be in pain.

Just the fact that you are wearing a ponytail will make you look younger, too. There are many ways to do a pony but for fancy events, a very sleek pony is best.

Look years younger, if just for the night. But remember that you earned those wrinkles and they are just signs of how much you have grown through the years to become the wonderful, beautiful person you are today.

FALL FAVS

August 20, 2014  Wednesday

What's hot for fall fashion??

Fall is just around the corner. As the trees change their clothes (leaves) in the fall, our style, color and trends for fall change as well.

Change of seasons means something new is on the horizon. By changing from the clothing of summer, and putting on garments for fall, we are saying that we leave the past where it belongs and are ready to embrace the new season, whatever awaits us in the fall.

Today we get a sneak peek as to what is going to be "hot" this fall, according to Porter Magazine, Fall 2014 edition:

The skirt of the season is the Suit Skirt. Professional, classy but now acceptable to wear anywhere.

I've always loved suit skirts because they give off a powerful air. They make you look classic, polished and sophisticated. Yes, I will be rocking quite a few of these this fall.

The new neutral for the season is not a neutral at all, but a bold and powerful color: Maroon.

You will most likely see a flood of accessories coming in maroon to add that splash of just the right color for your fall wardrobe.

The color for the fall season is to be GREEN. The color of the year, last year was Emerald Green. Not to be confused with this season's color.

It is more of a dull green, what I like to call Army Green. And it is not one of my favs. Even though it looks good on me, you will not see me sporting it this fall.

Knee-high boots are said to be the shoe of the upcoming fall season.

These are my favorite type of boots so I am all game. But I think I will be waiting until winter to bust mine out. Florida weather plays by different rules.

YOU ARE YOU

August 21, 2014  Thursday

Don't change for the world

I have somehow, recently, stumbled upon a lot of books that discuss temperaments and personalities and the like. So I have started studying these different things without even planning to. It is amazing how much I have learned about myself from this study.

I will plan to do a small study of blogs on temperaments, possibly starting this Saturday, for those who are interested.

But today, I want to offer you some encouragement.

I grew up as the middle child, shy and quiet. Unseen, unheard but I felt so out of place. It seemed the only way to get love or attention was to be loud and obnoxious and I could not bring myself to be that way.

Throughout school people did not understand why I did not talk very much. I was seen as stuck up and rude. Honestly, I did not know what was “wrong” with me. I did not know how to hold conversations, let alone carry them. I just never had much to say. I am still much that way but less awkward about it.

The thing is, I am an extreme introvert. If you met me today, you would not be able to tell because I was pushed and pushed that I finally pushed myself out of my safe, happy place. I also have a strong melancholy temperament, which means I take things personally and felt like I always had to improve myself for everyone else.

The American society has deemed extroversion as the norm. They have been pushing this for years. So it makes everyone who is introverted feel out of place and most people do not know how to or even care to relate to the introverts. That is what I grew up facing and why I felt like I needed to change myself to be an extrovert.

No matter what you are, extrovert, introvert, sanguine or melancholic, you cannot change who you are. And you do not need to. We all have to go through the process of accepting ourselves. Part of that is accepting your temperament and when you finally accept yourself, others will accept you too.

As I say over and over, you do not need to change yourself, beautiful. You were made just the way you are for a reason. You can push yourself and challenge yourself to grow but you also need to embrace who you are.

Take a journey to discover why you are who you are. You will be amazed.

HEART OF STEEL

August 23, 2014  Saturday

Melt this heart of steel

Today I am going to share something with you that I have recently discovered about my own human heart, but something that I feel many of us struggle with. I wanted to share it yesterday since Fridays are our heart days but my day ran out too quickly. So, surprise, you get it today :)

After being through some hurtful relationships with people that you were really close to (by you, I mean me), whether it is family or friends, we tend to put on some armor to guard against further attacks.

A few years ago, a good friendship of mine ended. This was the final straw for me. It was not the first time this happened but I made sure it would be the last. I would tell myself, “I don’t care,” about anything that might have triggered emotions. And eventually I really did not care. It was like I was numbing my heart so that I did not have to deal with anymore pain.

I can’t tell you when the last time was that I cried about anything important. I have a hard time finding compassion or sympathy for anything. Instead, when I am presented with a situation that requires it, I try to find a way out as fast as possible and let someone else deal with it. I cannot stand watching any emotional movies anymore either.

It is not that I have stopped loving people, because I do love those close to me so much, but I have put on some armor that is ten inches thick and it is like I have allowed myself to grow hard towards things that make us human.

I did not even know what I was doing. But I do plan on getting married someday soon. I can not be a good wife if I walk through life in armor, with a heart as cold as ice. I think it is time I allow myself a good cry and allow my heart to soften again. What do you think?

Here is a “poem” I wrote about it yesterday:

IN THE WAY

August 24, 2014  Sunday

Don't let the big 3 stop you

I listened to a great message at the beginning of the month about the three biggest things that get in the way of your purpose. It was very encouraging, so I wanted to share it with all of you who are out their trying to go after your purpose.

#1 Opportunities

This may seem a little crazy but when you are going after your purpose, opportunities will start arising right and left. It will be things that may be very tempting, things that seem like they would actually help you get further, ways to get more money, you name it and it will pop up.

But these opportunities are more likely distractions or detours to get you off the path. Believe me, you do not need to take every opportunity, I have put myself in plenty of pickles because of some of the opportunities that arrived.

#2 Criticism

This one is a no-brainer. Sometimes it is best not to ask people for their opinions or not to tell them a lot about what is going on. Most times than not, they will try to discourage you.

I am at a place right now where I am not saying much of anything about the next step to anyone because it is at a very crucial place and I do not need any negative speaking at all.

#3 Fear

This is a big one that held me back for so long. Afraid of practically everything. But thankfully the grip of fear was not tight enough that I have stood up to it time and again and conquered one fear after another. Now I see fear as a challenge. Face those suckers head on.

Not every opportunity is the right opportunity for you. Not everyone needs to know everything. Show fear who is boss.

CHEATING

August 25, 2014  Monday

Only cheating yourself

When it comes to cheating with your health, diet and exercise it is never worth it. Just think of it this way, cheating is bad in every context of the word.

I know from personal experience that cheating with your diet can cause a big set back. You think to yourself, "Oh, I will cheat only this once." Once you allow a little here, you see it was not so bad. So you keep allowing little cheats way more often than you need to.

Before you know it, you are well on your way to being back at square one where you started. You have to make the tough decision to go back through the whole detox process and rid your body of all the toxins and impurities.

I cheated one too many times. I am not back in the state that I was but I am definitely not in a good place. So I am doing a smaller detox of both sugar and gluten again. My body is feeling the effects of both of those harmful "foods."

From here on out, there is no more cheating for nothing. If I am going to choose to take care of my body, it is going to be a consistent thing. I must be stronger than my desires and lust for food. There is no benefit in eating any of that garbage. My taste buds do not even enjoy it at all anymore.

So if you have made some big, health lifestyle changes keep this is mind, cheating is only cheating yourself of everything you have worked so hard on. Keep going strong.

AU NATURAL

August 26, 2014  Tuesday

To go natural or not??

The new thing in beauty, for the moment, is going natural with your makeup. By this they mean, still wearing makeup, but wearing the right colors and blends so that it appears as if you do not have any makeup on.

I guess they are going for an airbrushed, perfect look because why else would you go natural in your makeup if you could just go natural.

If you are interested in trying it out, here are a few tips on how to go natural with make up:

1. Foundation: When finding the right natural foundation, you want to rub it right onto either your jaw line, face or neck. Not the back of your hand. As you are rubbing it on, it should disappear or blend with your face so that there is no color difference between your face and the foundation at all.

2. Blush: To find the perfect natural shade for your cheeks, give one of your cheeks a gentle pinch, like your old Aunt Martha used to do, that is the color that you should find for blush.

3. Lips: For a natural lip color, lightly bite the bottom of your lip. The shade that it turns, which should not be much darker than your normal lip color, is the color to buy for your lips. If they turn a blood red, you bit too hard.

So you can either go all natural or go natural in your makeup and you should blend right in. Get it, blend in, lol. I crack myself up. No matter what form of makeup you wear, you are beautiful. Never forget it :)

FEEL GOOD

August 27, 2014  Wednesday

Dress to unstress or depress??

“When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you are more likely to reach your goals,” said Kayla McGee in Ken Paves book, “You Are Beautiful.”

Fashion really does affect so many things. It adds to or diminishes from the mood we are in. It can speak volumes to strangers you pass on the streets. And so much more that we are literally unaware of.

I find fashion affecting my mood a lot. I love to dress up. I love to wear dresses, look classy, get all dolled up. More often than not, I opt out of doing that because of one excuse after another. “It’s too hot outside and I don’t want to get my nice clothes sweaty.” Or “I don’t want to ruin my clothes at work.” So I tend to go for the comfortable, casual clothes that most Floridians wear and then feel like a bum and less than beautiful for the rest of the day.

If you are feeling blue, maybe you just need an outfit change. Remember, no matter who you are, an outfit really can lift your spirits. So if you need a boost, put on your favorite, little dress ... and take yourself somewhere nice. I take myself on out all the time :)

Here are a few extra fashion tips for you from Kayla McGee:

When choosing an outfit, look for something that creates an hourglass figure and elongates your body.

When in doubt, wear Spanx. Everyone is doing it :)

PERFECT HUMAN

August 28, 2014  Thursday

Just perfectly human

You and I are perfect humans. We are 100% human. Humans are not perfect. Therefore, we are perfect humans. That’s just the way it is.

This should make you feel good about yourself. There is one thing you can be perfect at, that is being human.

We all mess up. We all get selfish and try to do things our own way. We all have setbacks and failures. We all fall into temptation. I mean, face it, we are a bunch of screwed up peeps walking around making messes.

That doesn’t mean we should go around making problems on purpose but we do not need to get so down on ourselves when we do. We should learn the most effective and efficient way to make things right when we mess up. It is a learning process. I still have to learn how to make things right, the best way, for everyone involved.

We make the mistakes, just like everyone else, but the thing that makes you stand out is what you do after you make the mistake. Do you run and hide? Blame it on someone else? Apologize? Try to fix what went wrong? Give up completely? Start again?

We all create the same problems just in different colors and shades. We are given all the same options to fix them and make them right. But we all do life differently. My way of making things right is not going to look the same as yours. You may not think what I do is good enough.

That just comes with being human. We are each very different and unique. We have our own personalities, temperaments, cultures, lifestyle ... so we each process things differently. A lot of times that can add to the mess we create but the mess can be worth it if we are all being who we were made to be instead of copies of each other.

As we learn and as we grow, we loose some of those selfish tendencies and learn how to make decisions out of love for others.

Life is a beautiful thing, full of perfect humans, on a journey learning to love.

LOVERS & FRIENDS

August 29, 2014  Friday

Just

friends please

Love is a natural part of human life. We have all been blessed with the gift of love. However, love can be a confusing thing.

There are different types of love and one form of love can easily be confused for another one. I have made the mistake myself, at least a few times. I wish we each were given a manual on the different types of love so we could understand which one we are experiencing towards each person.

First, there is the love for our blood family. This one is pretty easy to decipher. As we grow into adults, these are the people that we love with all of our hearts but cannot stand to be around too long because we all know each others buttons and how to make the other tick.

Second, there is the love of friends, both casual and dear friends. Friends hold a dear place in your heart and the closest ones know everything about you. With friends of the opposite sex, you can end up getting so close and spending so much time with them that the love you have for them as a friend can confuse you and make you think that you would like to be more than friends. Many times this ruins friendships and ends relationships because you were not loving them as a lover would (even though you thought you were) but just as a very dear friend.

I have had to teach myself to think of guy friends as brothers because I do get so close to them and I do love them but it is not the love that is meant for a relationship. With me, it usually starts with guy friends that are inspired by one or more things that I do. So I spend time pouring into them, investing in them and trying to help them in anyway to get to where they would like to be. So I have to remind myself to think of me as their sister, helping them out in life. If I don’t, the love I am feeling towards them will confuse me and make me think it needs to be something more, when it clearly does not.

Here is a hint: if you think you need to help someone, or you think of them as a “project” they are not on the same level as you and if you attempt to get into a relationship with them, you both will end up unhappy.

Lastly, there is the love meant for lovers, for the one that was made for you. This love is so intense and so strong. Much different than the other loves that you have imagined and experienced. This love will be towards the one person made just for you. This love does not go away, no matter how many times you try to make it. You will know it is right just by the knowing that everyone speaks about. But you will also know it is right if you do not see them as a project. If you see they are already moving right along beside you, you are headed in the same direction. That, my dear, is when it is the one. Don’t waste your time trying to go after any of the other ones.

Hopefully, this has given you a little insight into the difference between lovers and friends. I love you, my friends.

As promised, I am going to use the next few Saturdays going over the four temperaments for you. For years, I have avoided learning too much about them because I knew I was melancholy and did not like that.

All of that has changed though. It is truly quite fascinating learning your temperament and seeing how much it has played a role in your life.

There are four main temperaments: melancholy, sanguine, chloric and phlegmatic. However, most people have one dominant temperament and a secondary one. So you will find that you probably have a mixture of two of them.

I am a rare human, only about 5% in the world are this way, but I am dominated mostly by melancholy and then the other three have almost equal shares in my temperament. So I relate to each one of the temperaments, which is probably why I relate well to everyone I meet.

Sanguine and Chloric are the two extrovert temperaments and Melancholy and Phlegmatic are the two introvert temperaments. Before I go any further into each temperament, here is a link where you can take a free test to discover what you are if you do not already know.

Just answer the questions the way they best relate to you. This is the only fun test you will ever get to take because there are no wrong answers and it is all about you :)

Have fun

INFLUENCE

August 31, 2014  Sunday

What does your life say?

As you move closer towards your purpose, goals and dreams, your sphere of influence expands. You begin to realize how much influence you have not only over the people close to you, but over people you may have never met before.

You realize that everything you say and everything you do is being watched under a magnifying glass. People want to be you. They want to imitate what you do.

With this greater influence, you have a much greater responsibility. More lives are resting in your hands than have ever been before. Every decision you make will affect the lives of hundreds maybe even thousands around you.

Life is no longer about you. It is not about what you want to do or whether or not you feel like doing something.

Your life has become about all of them.

How are you influencing them?

Are you showing them that you are just like the rest of the world: easily entangled by sin and temptation, given over to drinking, partying and immoral sexual relations?

Or are you truly standing out? Is every area of your life making a difference and standing up to the lies and confusion of this world?

I hope you take time to thoroughly examine your life and remove those things that are hindering the people that look up to you.

I have to on a daily basis. Their lives are more important than my wants and desires of the flesh.

Be strong, beautiful.
